• Transportation Land Use Impacts - This course will describe practical methods for comprehensive evaluation of land use impacts resulting from transportation policy and planning decisions. It will explore these issues in the context of concerns about the costs of sprawl and the potential of smart growth development policies

These are the current requirements for renewing your South Dakota Land Surveyors license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.


• To renew your Land Surveyor License in the state of South Dakota, you are required to complete 30 professional development hours every 2 years.
• Land Surveyor licenses expire every 2 years. Professional development hours must be completed prior to expiration. A maximum of 15 excess professional development hours may be carried over to the next renewal cycle.
• A minimum of 10 professional development hours must be in professional management subjects such as computer courses, ethics, etc. A minimum of 20 professional development hours must be in technical subjects that directly safeguard the public’s life, health, safety, and welfare.
• Licensees shall maintain a record of professional development hours completed for a minimum of three years. The Board shall randomly audit for verification purposes.
